Perry Weather Outdoor Warning System

Lightning and severe weather are hazards that must be taken seriously. The Town of Little Elm has installed Perry Weather Outdoor Warning Systems at the following locations: Little Elm Park Beach, Little Elm Park Soccer Fields, Little Elm Park Softball Fields, Cottonwood Sports Complex, and Lakeside Middle School Athletic Fields. These warning systems act as alerts when severe weather and/or lightning are in the area.

Perry Weather Systems will give one 15-second blast/alarm when lightning strikes within ten miles of each location. Upon hearing the blast/alarm, everyone should immediately stop current activities and remove themselves from the athletic fields or park spaces and seek appropriate shelter. After the initial blast, a yellow strobe light on top of the system will begin flashing. This light will continue to flash until conditions are deemed safe enough to return.

After the area has been clear for 30 minutes from the last strike/alert, the system will provide an “all clear” by giving three 5-second blasts. Regular activities may resume at this time. No one is allowed to return to any athletic field or park space until the all-clear is given by the Perry Weather System.

Everyone should immediately seek shelter any time lightning is believed to be a threat, even if a signal has not been sounded.

Any association, group, or individual that does not follow these procedures, is subject to loss of all field privileges.

Rainout Line

The Town of Little Elm uses the rainoutline system to update the status of fields, leagues, programs, and parks within the Town. This system allows the user to access the rainout line in multiple ways in order to find out the status of a field, league, program or park. Please choose one of the options listed below in order to verify the status of the field, league, program or park you need.

Option 1: Simply visit the home page of our athletics website, www.lakefrontrecreation.com. There will be a rain out news item on the main page that scrolls through all of our parks and facilities that we post updates for. It will look like the one below, and updates automatically anytime we update our rain out line.

Option 2: Call the new rain out line number, 972-784-0999, and when prompted choose the extension that corresponds with the field, league, program, or park you need.

Option 3: Visit www.rainoutline.com, and search Little Elm in the top right hand corner where it says search for status. When your results pop up, click on Little Elm Parks and Recreation, and it will take you to a page showing all of our extensions and whether they are closed or open. You may also follow this link to go directly to our page: https://rainoutline.com/search/dnis/9727840999.

Option 4: Download the mobile app in the App Store or Android Market. Simply search Rainout Line in either app store, and once the app is downloaded, you can search and find the Little Elm Parks and Recreation page the same way as in option 3.

Option 5: Sign up for text alerts when you visit the website in option 3. You can choose which extensions you would like to be notified about, and will receive a text anytime that extension is updated.

Option 6: Sign up for email alerts when you visit the website in option 3. You can choose which extensions you would like to be notified about, and will receive an email anytime that extension is updated.
